{Taft's Everyday}: February Edition

Taft got a Gran Box today and it made me remember that I haven't had a post devoted to Taft in awhile.  He has been up to a lot lately. 
We got haircuts...

He has gotten Skittles from his friend, and my co-worker, Yvette aka Dardas.  He likes them in his cup holder..

 He has discovered that Lincoln Logs are cool.  I am glad that Santa went out on a limb and got him some..

 He likes to play with them on a quilt in the floor with his daddy....

 And back to that Gran Box.  Here are the contents...  Shirts, socks, undies, markers, books, and a new toy plane.

 And he LOVES the plane.

 My favorite is one of the shirts.  I can only believe that a Southern person designed this shirt.  Camo with a collar.  It's for a more formal occassion.  I wonder if it is only sold in Alabama?

Gran Box

We got another Gran Box yesterday.  We just love Gran Boxes.  This one was filled with new jammies for the boy.  He loves Carter's and Osh Kosh jammies!  Don't you love how "sexy" they make him look?  Ha!

He also got a pair of Firetruck house slippers that light up when you walk.  A big hit.

And lots of socks.  Plain socks, striped socks, slippy socks, and Mickey Mouse socks!

Not pictured is the Toy Story dry erase board, bubble wand, some cash for shoes.  And a birthday present for Mama.  Thank You Gran!

April Update

I can't believe how behind I have gotten on blogging.  There are many reasons for it though.  We have been busy here.  Busy with work, school, and I have taken a extra job with Macaroni Kid.  I won't go into the new job a lot since you can read more about it on the link above, but I do still have my full time day job.  MK is a night and weekend kinda thing that I have taken on.  This am marked my 3rd week and newsletter.  So far, so good.

On March 30, Taft got another Gran Box in the mail.  It was a big one!  He got lots of clothes.  Shorts and shirts.  He also got Play Dough, Toy Story figures, Toy Story pencil case (it will be great for crayons in the car), sunglasses, and snacks.  We do love Gran Boxes.
Yesterday, Taft and I went to get his hair cut.  It was much needed.  He did great.  For the first time ever, he voiced no complaints.  Right before his turn, he saw Miss Meaghan from his school.  She had just gotten her cut and color from the same girl that was going to cut Taft's hair.  He was pretty excited about it.  He ran to her to give her a hug and kiss.  He loves Meaghan!

Then it was off to Kohl's to look for shirts to match some of the shorts that Gran sent.  She sent a brown pair and navy pair but was unable to find shirts.  Taft and I had no trouble finding shirts at Kohl's.  I. love. Kohl's.  The Jumping Beans line is great for him.  It has not let me down yet.  Plus - they are almost always on sale.  We got the two we went for and then found one on sale for $3.90 and had to get it too.  Where else can you get 3 great shirts for under $15?

The "extra" shirt Taft got for being a good boy at his haircut.  He likes clothes as much as toys.






After the shopping was over, and Taft had paid for and carried out his clothes, we went to Wendy's for a fast lunch.  We got it to go and came home for a nap.



He really likes fries.

Today - Shane and I took Taft to the beach to fly his kite.  We went to eat at one of the places on the water a few weeks ago and he saw a boy with a kite.  He has told us since that he wanted one too.  I saw some at Dollar Tree on Friday and picked one up for him.  He was amazed at how it would fly but there was not a lot of wind today.  It did fairly well but he was ready to come home. 

We stopped by Publix, aka The Cookie Store, on the way home and got him a cupcake.  After he played with it and got it everywhere ate it, he took a nap.  Now we just have to get ready for school and work tomorrow.

March Reading

One of my goals with Taft for the year is to read more.  He got a box of new books from Gran last week.  I thought that it was the perfect opportunity to start really reading.  We were very lucky that at one of my baby showers, people brought me books to start Taft's library.  We got a great selection of board books, picture books, and books that he will grow into.  Many have them have still not been read since Taft sticks to his favorites.

So - I decided that in March, we would read one new (unread), book a day.  I tried to start it off with a book that Taft would find exciting.  We chose The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle.  This version is a board book and the last page has a little battery in it to make all the little firefly's blink.  He loved it!  Then he was begging to read, "more books, more books". 

We followed it up with an educational book.  Shiny Touchy Smelly.  He loved the fact that there is a scratch and sniff on each page. 

We also read a little book called My Day.  It is a poem describing what you do throughout the day.  I couldn't find a picture of it but I will try to scan it later.  I think that we got off to a great start.

Gran Box

Taft was very happy to see that we had a Gran box on Saturday.  Mostly everything was for him, but Mommy got new Christmas socks and Daddy got Danish Wedding Cookies.  Taft got an advent calendar, 2 new pairs of PJ's, 2 new shirts, and a Tonka firetruck.  Thanks Gran!

Gran and Jenna Box - October 18th

 Taft was SO happy to see another box from Gran and Jenna.  He always knows that there are great things inside.  The box looked small but somehow Gran had packed it full of goodies.

Inside this box Taft got:

3 pair of "comfy" pants,  A plate with fork and spoon , 4 zoo animals that make sounds ,1 pair of jeans, some glow sticks, a box of Goldfish, money for shoes & milkshakes, 4 shirts, a picture of new cousin Josie, and a Halloween card.

Gran and Jenna Box - Sept. 16

Taft loves to get Gran and Jenna boxes! He could barely wait to open it up and find all his goodies. He got a great new hat, a hammer, jeans & shirt, socks, a little money for his favorite PediaSure's, and a LIZARD!
He was so excited to see a lizard since they are his favorite thing in the world at the moment (running a close 2nd to The Wonder Pet's). Mr. Lizard is squishy and stretchy. He also has very big teeth and Taft enjoys making him bite mommy, daddy, and Shelby.
He also loved trying on his jeans. They came with a very cute little belt and he was able to work it himself. A VERY big hit for him.

Taft Got Mail

Taft got his latest package from Gran and Jenna. In it was this hat that his Great Aunt Betty made him on her visit to Gran's house last month. He loves it. He put it on and wore it until bedtime. This morning it was the first thing he went to. He loves new things.
Also in his box was a new pair of jammies, three outfits, a bath toy, and two big packs of socks. One pack just has different sayings on them and the other has the days of the week. They are so cute!

Mail From Gran & Jenna

Taft loves to get mail from Gran and Jenna. The mailman was nice enough to drop of this box while he was taking a nap so I was able to open all the items and get them ready for him. That way he could just dig in on his own. I think that the first thing he saw was his baby doll. When we were at Gran's during the holidays, he played with a doll there. He would sit and give it a bottle and hold it. He also got bibs and lots of different socks and a board book that came with little wooden figures. The doll came with a bottle and some baby toys and he has really enjoyed it.

The baby also talks. He didn't figure it out for a few hours but when he did it was pretty funny. He wanted me to keep mashing it's tummy to make it talk. It giggles, cries, and says da-da. When I stopped he found a way to make it work for him. He puts the doll on the floor and steps on him. I guess we need to talk about child abuse.

December Daily - Day 9

First of all - I know that I skipped 8. We really didn't do anything yesterday. Nothing photo worthy or Christmas like. Quincy came and brought Taft a book with wiggly eyes and he loved it. Since this is all that really happened, I am going to reserve those pages in the album for sample/swatches of our wrapping paper for the year.Taft got a package today while he was asleep. I opened it and removed the items for Shane and I and put Taft's back in so that he could open it when he woke from his nap. He wasn't sure what to do with it at first but then he took out all the tissue paper and found his new ornaments from Gran. She sent him a sock monkey and Grinch for his tree. After he found them, he put them back in the box with the tissue and repeated this over and over. We will put the ornaments on his tree in the morning when I can get the ladder in to reach it.
