He is only going Monday thru Wednesday. I will going back to Dr. Combs's office on those days. I was not out looking for a job but my old one came available and we thought it would be good for Taft and I both to get out a little more. Me with some adult time and Taft with children and to learn that someone else can take him sometimes.
We got up and got ready to go. Taft is normally still in bed at 9 am but this morning he was up by 6:45 am. He did go to bed earlier last night to get ready. He had his breakfast drink and a little snack since they do have breakfast at 9 am each morning. He was very excited to go outside and leave the house. Of course - he had no idea where he was going or how long he would be there.
When we got to Magic Forest, we went in and he seemed to remember it from the day we took a tour. He went over to the fish tank, pulled out a chair, and took a seat. He didn't like it very much when I picked him up to go to his class. He was fine when we got there though. His teacher is very nice and already knew all about him. He walked over and started to play with the toys and check out the other kids. He never knew that I left.
I called to check on him around lunch and they said that he was doing well. That he cried when he couldn't find me but that he had been okay since. He was sleepy and rubbing his eyes but it was time for nap.
Shane and I went to pick him up together. We got to his class and they were outside. I just watched him from the window to see what he was doing. He was walking around like all the other kids his class. When I opened the door and he saw me, he gave me the most terrible look. It was like he thought that he would never see me again and he started to cry. He cried until we got in the car to go home. When he calmed down, I asked him if he had a good time. He said, "Ah huh" (yes). I asked him if he missed mommy and he said the same thing. When I asked him if he was going back tomorrow, he didn't answer.
I think that tomorrow will be a lot worse than today because he will know where he is and that I will be leaving him. Hopefully he will have another good day and start to realize that mommy will always come to get him.
One thing that I really like is that they have info for you on the board in his class. Each child has a little pocket with their photo on it and a little slip each day to let you know the basics. He is in the Cuddle Bug class so they call them Cuddle Grams. Here is his from today.
I still think that he thought I had left him forever. I just hope that he will start to have a lot of fun with the other kids and it will get easier to leave him there.
