We are now Paci FREE!!!
How did we do it? It really just kinda happened. I am tired of looking for and buying paci's. Taft started to chew on the paci. Like a dog with a rawhide toy. He was getting nice big holes in them and then we would throw it away. Finally he was down to one and I told him over and over again that once it was messed up or lost, that was all that he get.
We have slowly stopped using it all the time. He has never been able to have it at school. For the last 6 months or so, I have not let him have it in the car (unless we were on a long road trip). I told him that people would see him and think that he was a baby. Then we went to only having it to go to sleep. Sometimes he would find it earlier and get it when we got home. Then....
It was Friday, April 6th. We were getting ready for bed and he wanted the paci. When I picked it up, it was chewed almost in half. I pulled the hanging part off and he screamed. I told him that it could it could come of in his mouth during the night and make him choke. He wanted the nub so I let him have it but it would not stay in his mouth. The next night, he asked for it and I told him that it was gone. He didn't cry. He just said that he wanted it and I told him no and to go to sleep. He has never mentioned it again.
Don't get me wrong, we are still on shaking ground. I am pretty sure that if someone makes a mistake and even talks about a paci, he will have a major breakdown, and scream to get a new one. But for right now, we are great.
