He also gave me a little tour of his room. Of course - we saw the room at Open House and on the first day of school, but now he knows a lot more about it. It is his element and he is thrilled to show and explain it. I think it is a sign of how much he enjoys it.
This meeting was a group meeting. All the parents were there at the same time. The purpose was to show us how they are grading, explain the scale (we aren't on an A, B, C, format), and give us an idea of where our child stands in relation to the class. The teacher had a power point bar graph and each child was assigned a secret letter so we could all together.
We then were asked to write down our child's scores. Before we left we were given a goal setting page to talk to our child about his/her strengths and weaknesses and discuss what we need to work on.
I loved being about to see where he stands this early on. First report cards go out in about 4 weeks so it gives us all time to improve.
