Orlando Science Center & A Quick Visit With the Grandparents

My parents are in Orlando for a few days this week.  My father had to come for a conference and my mother came along.  Taft and I went over this morning and picked up my mother  (they were staying at a Disney hotel) and took her with us to the Orlando Science Center.  Daddy had classes and wasn't out until the afternoon.

We had never gone to the OSC but I knew that it had dinosaurs and they are a big favorite of Taft's at the moment.  They didn't disappoint.  Taft got to see just how big a T-Rex really is.

You can barely see my poor little guy in this picture.  This T-Rex would move and make noise as he pushed the buttons on the side.  He also got to dig for bones.

The museum was 4 levels and had so much to do and see.  We made sure to visit the area with the alligators, turtles, snakes, and frogs.

 Almost all the exhibits are hands on.  Taft a great time with the boats.  It has forced water on one side and the kids can move the tracks around to make the boats go at different speeds.

 The All Aboard area was great and Taft enjoyed playing while my mother and I enjoyed sitting down for a little while.  Here he is in the space shuttle simulator.  They also had a plane and a train.

 One of the funniest things was watching him in the Weather Center.  It works mostly like the real thing.  You get to pick the weather that you want to report on, so I chose a Tropical Storm and Hurricane.  We are in hurricane season you know.
Taft liked seeing himself on tv and danced to the weather report.  Tom Terry would be proud.

 After a quick lunch in Subway (which was in the museum), we went to the KaBoom show.  Basically - they blow up things.  Mostly latex balloons filled with different gases to make different colors and sounds.  The last one was like a canon going off and you could feel the shock wave.  Taft loved it!

 When we got Mother back to the hotel, Daddy was out of class.  He took Taft on a nice, long, boat ride around Epcot.  Then we got a bite to eat and it was time for Taft and I to drive home.  Taft slept the entire two hour drive.  He did a lot in a few hours.

I should also say that this is #10 on the Summer Bucket List.
