31 Days | Advent

Advent is a season observed in many Western Christian churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas.  The term is an anglicized version of the Latin word adventus, meaning "coming".
The theme of readings and teachings during Advent is often the preparation for the second coming while commemorating the First Coming of Christ at Christmas.  - - Wikipedia

Advent is a holiday tradition that many people take part in.  It is a religious tradition, but like Christmas, it has become commercial.  While many people and churches still use this is a time centered around Jesus and celebrating his birth, families also use it as a way to count down to Santa.  No matter which category you fall into, there are numerous ways to make it fun and enjoyable for the family.

Advent calendars have been around a long time.  They can be as simple as pulling off a day on the calendar or opening a little paper door to get a piece of chocolate.  One spin on the tradition that is still simple and fun, is the Lego Advent Calendar.  This is on that I think we need to try at our house soon.
If you use little gifts in your advent, you will need to do some planning ahead.  It is nice to have all the gifts bought and ready before December starts.  It really takes some stress out of the fun and makes it less of a chore.

We use our elf as a way to do advent, but as I looked around Pinterest, I found some wonderful ways to advent to your holidays. Here are a few that really stood out.
