I don't like to give a bad a review to any book. I can enjoy almost anything that I pick up and find something good about it. But this was hard. The storyline itself is amazing. It is totally something that I would buy by the book description. The concept and the material that it deals with (slavery and racism) are important and the history of those are interesting. But the book itself was not something that I could get into.
The writer often spent an entire page of more describing the way a path in the woods looked and smelled and felt. It was an endless sentence in an endless paragraph. And by the time I got to the end of the paragraph I had already forgotten what we were talking about to begin with.
I know that many people love and rave of this book and everyone is welcome to their own opinion. I am just not one of them. I couldn't even finish the book and stopped at the halfway point.
