Taft's Preschool decided to have a Trunk or Treat on a Friday morning. At first, I thought that this was a terrible idea. They were asking parents to take off work and come to volunteer for about 4 hours to decorate their cars and pass out candy. Seriously. Then I put more thought into it as the day approached. This was the best idea I have ever heard. By having this on a school day, EVERY child was able to participate. Parents that could come would. Stay at home mom's and grandparents, and those of us lucky enough to have jobs that allow us to take off for our kids. I am so fortunate that have a job where I can work and be part of Taft's school life. And you know what? Lots of adults came. And dressed up. And decorated their cars. And helped out in the classrooms getting the kids their breakfast. And passed out candy to 100 kids in costumes from the baby class thru Pre-K. And then helped get the kids changed into regular clothes for the rest of the day. Truly a GREAT idea.
Here are a few pictures from the day:
Taft and Nong. His last name is Nong but since there are two boys with similar names so they are called by their last names.
All the little cuties getting their breakfast. They were all so excited and Nong's mom and I were there all morning. She was a pirate and I was a pumpkin.
This young man is Mr. Dimitry. I believe that his official title is Director of Public Relations. His mother owns the school and he dresses up each year. The kids LOVE it.
Taft is in love with his new car and named him Rex. He wanted Rex to have big teeth. A little poster board and a LOT of glue dots made Rex into a cute little monster.
Taft with his Treat Bags that his class made. They didn't expect to get so much candy and their handles didn't hold up.
Taft's class collecting from Gianna's parents. The tall girl in the orange shirt is his teacher, Miss Erin. He thinks she is awesome. And so do we.
