Earth Day | Taft's New Hobby

Yes - I am a little behind. ;0
Earth Day was last Monday.  Taft's school was working on projects all week.  He was very concerned about helping and making the earth happy.  He also thinks that Earth Day is the the earth's birthday, which I think is kinda cute.
They talked a lot about litter and recycling.  I have to admit that I am not a good recycler.  I have the bins and I do it when I remember, which is not that often.  But - not anymore.
Taft has become the world's best recycler.  It is his new hobby or sorts.  He has gone through everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, in our house to see if it can be recycled.  He is even in charge of sorting and putting items in the bins.  He also gets up early on Friday to get his bath so he can go outside when the truck comes to watch them take all his "presents for the earth".  So we see this alot.

Here is the 'Litter Bug Bag" that his class made.   He likes to keep it in the car to collect all possible litter.
They also asked parents to bring in flowers or plants that the children could plant around the school grounds.  Taft went to Lowe's with us and picked eight flowers that he liked.  He was very excited to take them in and even more so when they planted outside the backdoor in the classroom.  I was a little disappointed that no other families brought any in.

Easter/Earth Day At Preschool

Taft picked out his Bunny Bags weeks ago on a trip to Dollar General.  Last night we filled them with Smarties, KitKat's, Reese's Eggs, and taffy.  He called them, "bunny nandy".  I hope they were a hit.
He had a Easter Party yesterday at school and an Egg Hunt today.  They also planted new plants at the school today for Earth Day.
Taft took in a collection of paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  Earth Day is all about recycling.  Toddlers make LOADS of things out of these.  At least at our school they do.
