City Christmas Tree Lighting

Sunday night was December 1st, and the City of Palm Coast had their Annual Tree Lighting.  We have never gone so I asked Taft and he said he "Definitely wants to go!".
I still think they could invest in a few more lights.

Our city is still pretty small, so you can't go to an event at Central Park without seeing someone you know.  Taft ran into a friend from Kindergarten.  They were pretty happy to see each other.

Taft enjoyed the fact that Santa and the Mrs. came on the ladder truck.  We saw him get his seat and then headed out.  The line was at least 3 hours long and we are going to see Santa on Saturday.  He was just happy to see the fire truck leave.

And yes - there is some navy and orange on that shirt.  ;0

Christmas Light Walk

For the past few years, we have walked with Taft around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.  The best part is the one family a few streets up that do a Griswold Christmas.  It is unbelievable.
Shane had to work late tonight so Taft and I walked up there alone.  He was asking to go when we came home so I told him we would if he was good and ate all his dinner.  We had a great walk and talked about how we are best friends.  I love my sweet boy.

Neighborhood Lights

Saturday night we decided to take Taft for our yearly walk around the neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.  We have one neighbor a few streets over that REALLY put out lights.  You see the man that lives there working on the lights from Thanksgiving Day on.  They light up on December 1st.  After that he works on it all through the season.  When we got there, the parents were outside.  When the wife saw that we were looking, she invited us to come on into the yard and took Taft around on a VIP tour.  He loved it!  Then the two daughters came out to see him and took him everywhere.  He was in heaven.

Saturday, December 4th

We took our yearly walk to look at Christmas lights.  We had not seen Quincy all day.  It was getting late and close to bedtime when we arrived home.  Taft went to his room and there was Quincy in his bed with a new bedtime story about Mickey's Trucks.  Quincy is pretty sneaky.

December Daily - Day 7

When we started to look for Quincy, he was in the bathroom holding a bottle of Mr. Bubble. Taft had never had a real bubble bath and when I put him in, he was not sure what to do. He even started to cry a little. I think that he was upset that he could not see his legs and feet. After I showed them to him he was fine and seemed to enjoy the bubbles.
When I was little, we would go one night in December to look at Christmas lights. We would drive to Anniston/Oxford and drive around different neighborhoods. We have one neighbor, a couple of streets away, that go above and beyond in decor. We call them the neighborhood Griswalds. He starts working on the lights in October and has been seen adding things by the day. We walked Taft up there last night. It was pretty dark on the way since our town doesn't do street lights unless you pay for one in your yard. When we turned the corner it was like daytime. Taft wasn't sure what to think. He just stared. I think that he liked the decorations that moved and played music. Never fear, we will never have a yard that looks this way.
