Taft had homework this weekend. A family turkey project. We were supposed to take the turkey, cut it out, and make him a disguise so he will make it through the Thanksgiving season unharmed. The letter said that many turkeys in past years have been ballerinas, football players, farmers, hula dancers, and Elvis. The only real instructions were 1) cut out the turkey and 2) Decide how to disguise him and have fun.
After our trip to the fire department, we went to The Dollar Tree, aka toddler craft central. I saw a pack of felt, googly eyes, and pom-poms. The first thing I thought about was a Santa. Turkey Claus was in the making.
While Taft took his nap, I got to work. I decided that he needed to look like a turkey first so I made him some feathers and a mouth. Then I started to make the clothes. I had to sew them together to get them to stay since I was sure that no amount of child friendly glue would hold felt to cardstock. By the time that Taft woke up, I had his kit all ready. He colored his turkey brown with orange feet. Then he helped glue on all the feathers with his gluestick. He let me add the strong glue and helped put on the clothes and hat. Daddy helped by approving the disguise and taking the photos. 
I am enjoying seeing all the cute things you have been up to with Taft. We miss you guys.
